With religious Mannerist architecture, the current building of the monastery dates from the 16th-17th centuries and replaces the monastery of Augustinian friars that existed on this site in the 10th century. All that remains of the monastery building is the cloister (16th century) with a fountain from 1600 and a Romanesque sarcophagus (13th century) of Infante D. Rodrigo Sancho, bastard son of D. Sancho I.
In the church from 1574, with a cruciform interior and a single vaulted nave, the abundant gilded carving and 18th century tiles in the chancel stand out. Behind the monastery fence is the Amoreiras Aqueduct, a private civil architecture from the 18th century, according to an inscription on the end of the fence wall.
